ST. HELENA — Paulette M. Wieseler, 69, St. Helena, died suddenly Nov. 29, 2024, at Bryan East Hospital, Lincoln.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Dec. 4, at 10:30 a.m., at Holy Family (Immaculate Conception) Catholic Church, St. Helena, with Rev. Jim Keiter and Rev. Ross Burkhalter officiating.
Burial will be at Immaculate Conception Cemetery, rural St. Helena.
Pallbearers will be Shane Leise, Kyle Wiepen, Rob Wielbelhaus, Davis Wieseler, Devin Wieseler and Keenan Wieseler.
Honorary pallbearers will be Paulette’s grandchildren.
Visitation and a vigil service were Tuesday, at church. Visitation continues Wednesday, one hour prior to services. Arrangements are under the direction of the Wintz Funeral Home, Hartington.
Paulette Marie was born Nov. 12, 1955, in Crofton, to Alphonse “Bud” and Gertrude (Boecker) Schieffer. She grew up in Crofton and graduated from Crofton High School in 1974. Paulette married Ronald Fredrick Wieseler Aug. 26, 1978, in Crofton. She began working for M-Tron in Yankton, then at Dale Electronics. She was a stay-at-home mom while raising her three children, Eric, Cody and Sara.
Paulette also provided daycare in her home before working at Gurney’s Seed and Nursery in Yankton. She finished out her career at the Yankton Medical Clinic in Medical Records and then in Transcription for 30+ years. Paulette retired March 31, 2023.
Paulette belonged to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, and its Altar Society. She was a former parish council member and belonged to the St. Helena Social Club. Paulette raised a big garden, and canned and froze her produce to provide for her family. She made a famous salsa and decorated many cakes. She sewed and did alterations for many people, and just finished sewing Teddy Bears for a family. Her nickname was “Pinkie.”
Family was the most important thing in her life. She loved Ron, her siblings, her children and being involved in her grandchildren’s lives.
Paulette is survived by her husband, Ron; three children, son, Eric (Leslie) Wieseler and their children, Tyler, Cody, Ryker, and Zayne, Sioux Falls, S.D.; son, Cody (Leslie) Wieseler and their children, Caden, Colten and Calleigh, Lincoln; daughter, Sara Wieseler, Vermillion, S.D.; five siblings, Gary (Betty) Schieffer, Randolph; Jolene Kearns, Sioux Falls, S.D.; Claudette (Emery) Wiepen, St. Helena; Debbie (Brian) Wiebelhaus, Crofton; Sharon (Les) Oien, Yankton, S.D.; brother-in-law, John Eskins, Wynot; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Alphonse and GertrudeSchieffer; sisters, Gladys (Butch) Leise and Cindy Eskins; brothers, Francis and Garrett Schieffer; nephews, Chad Leise and Nick Schieffer; niece, Jessica Eskins; brother- in-law, Mike Kearns; sister-in-law, Pam Schieffer; and parents-in-law, Ralph and Mary Wieseler.
