Services will be held at a future date, yet to be determined by the family. Jolene Pearl Guy was born in Yankton, S.D., June 6, 1955, to Vernon Lester and Ilith (Flom) Guy. She lived southwest of Hartington until 1963, when the family moved to Brooky Bottom, near Wynot. Jolene went to Brooky Bottom Country School until transferring to Wynot High School, where she graduated in 1973. Jolene then moved to Omaha and went to work for Mutual of Omaha until 2001, when her health began to fail. She entered the Emerald Mercy Care and Rehab Center in May 2022.
Jolene enjoyed watching TV, doing search-a-word puzzles and bowling. Jolene is survived by her sisters, Janice O’Connor, Sturgis, S.D.; Karen Guy, Loveland, Colo.; Mary (Mark) Middleton, Urbandale, Iowa; her brother, Louis (Louise) Guy, Hartington; nieces and nephews, Mike (Fiona) O’Connor, Debbie Shepard, Michelle (Josh) Coffield, Aaron (Rachel) O’Connor, Thomas (Grace) O’Connor, Tracy (Nick) Rempe, Kayla Guy, Shane (Nicole) Guy, Erica (Kevin) Voles, Garrett Guy, Holly (Grant) Colgan, Ethan Middleton; and 19 great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Vernon and Ilith Guy; brother-inlaw, Daniel O’Connor; grandparents, Willard and Pearl Guy, and Minor and Alta Mae Flom; and nephew-in-law, Jeff Shepard.
