Maurice Francis Becker was born March 31, 1940 on the family farm near St. Helena, to Cyril T. and Eleanor (Lammers) Becker. He grew up on the farm in Fordyce and graduated from Holy Trinity High School, Hartington, in 1958. Maurice then worked in construction doing primarily dirt work and later became an electrician. He married Carol Ann Robinette July 16, 1966, and they lived in the Hartington area until they moved to a farm near Utica in 1972. Maurice worked for Bauer Electric in Yankton for around 30 years, and then Thompson Electric, Sioux City, Iowa for over 20 years. Maurice was mainly involved in large commercial and industrial construction projects. He received his 50-year pin as a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. In addition to his electrical work, Maurice loved farming and enjoyed living on the farm, until they moved to Yankton in 2021. He was a very hard worker and always kept busy.
