A celebration of life gathering was at 2 p.m., Oct. 19, at the Nance County Event Center, Fullerton.

Palmer-Santin Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, monetary donations are suggested to the family for use later.

David was born Jan. 6, 1983, to Tom and Bonnie (Snider) Finley in O’Neill. He grew up in O’Neill until 1995, when the family relocated to Hartington. David graduated from Hartington High School in 2001, and moved to Norfolk to attend college. While in Norfolk, he worked at Menards, where he formed lifelong friendships. In 2007, David met Ashley Borgheiinck, and they married Feb. 21, 2014, in Fullerton. After moving to Fullerton in 2008, David worked for Pillens and later for Schweitz Equipment, remaining there until his passing.

David was an active member of his community, serving on the Nance County Fair Board and frequently helping neighbors with various tasks, including iron removal and scrapping. He had a generous heart and would help anyone he could. David was also a tinkerer. On any given night or weekend, you could find him in his garage working on a car or lawn mower. David loved to share this hobby and passion for hard work with his boys. In his spare time, David enjoyed camping with his family and attending his children’s activities, from band competitions to wrestling, softball and volleyball games. He was a collector of many things.

He is survived by his wife, Ashley, Fullerton; children, Jacob and Jaxin Finley, Fullerton; Keston Rubeck, Creighton; and Anesha Bright, Sioux Falls, S.D.; father-in-law, Jim Borgheiinck, Fullerton; siblings, Jennifer (Mark) Bazyn, and Melissa (Jason) Vietor, both of Norfolk; and Nancy (Carl) Schieffer, Crofton; in-laws, Melissa (Shawn) Rasmussen, Fullerton; Lizza (Matt) Knabe, Cincinnati, Ohio; Jessica (Brian) Gilbert, Cameron, Mo.; Cassie Borgheiinck, Grand Island; Josh Borgheiinck, Fullerton; and special family friend, Jackie Bright, Sioux Falls, S.D.; along with many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Bonnie Finley; mother-in-law, Vickie Borgheiinck; his grandparents; and numerous
