TERRELL, Texas — Rosann Dorothy Filips Kinkaid, 93, died peacefully Sept. 12, 2024.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held Sept. 18 at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church.

Visitation and a rosary were Sept. 17 at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church.

Interment was at Dallas/Ft. Worth National Cemetery.

Rosann was born June 17, 1931, in Crofton, to Otto and Hilda Filips. Rosann’s mother died when she was 6 years of age. Her family moved to Fordyce in 1939. She attended St. John the Baptist Elementary Catholic school in Fordyce through the eighth grade, Fordyce public school grades 9 and 10 and, in 1949, she graduated from Holy Trinity Catholic High School, Hartington. She worked for Dr. Francis Dorsey part-time while in high school, and then full-time until her marriage to Rodney George Kinkaid June 16, 1953. Following their marriage, they moved to Salina, Kan., until Rodney’s discharge from the Air Force in 1955.

Rosann worked as bookkeeper along with whatever needed to be done in their family business until retirement in 1987, when she and Rod moved to Poetry, Texas, where they built their home and raised Texas Longhorn cattle and miniature horses. They moved to Terrell, Texas, in 2002.

Rosann was active in St. John the Apostle Catholic Church activities, serving as President of the Women’s Guild for many years. Her strong belief in the importance of family and faith never faltered. These qualities are accentuated by her love of church, their eight children, 22 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.

After her children were grown, she and her husband fostered other children.

Rosann loved to dance and travel, which she did extensively. Rosann is survived by her husband of over 71 years, Rod Kinkaid; their eight children and spouses, Cynthia Kinkaid, Michael and Paula Kinkaid, Richard and Linda Kinkaid, Becky and Carl Fellows, Greg, Gary Joe, Laura and Martin Lisius, and Sandra Tumey; 22 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and her sister, Adele Promes; each of whom she loved beyond words and touched deeply.
