Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Norfolk. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m,. Wednesday, at the chapel. Home for Funerals is in charge of arrangements. River Phoenix Kallhoff was born June 26, 2024, at UNMC, Omaha, and shortly later, transferred to Omaha Children’s Hospital. River’s short life spoke volumes and touched many hearts. River died in the presence of his mom and dad July 8, 2024, after struggling with a congenital heart disease.
River touched so many people in his short life and was loved by many. River loved when his dad and mom were near and would squeeze their fingers and work hard to open his eyes so that he could show them that he knew they were there.
River is the beloved son of Russell and Jaquelyn “Jackie” Kallhoff, Bellevue. He was the answer to their prayers, and they awaited his birth with joyful expectations. River was loved by all that met him and those that did not get a chance to meet him in his short life. River will be greatly missed and always remembered.
River is survived by his loving parents, Russell and Jaquelyn Kalthoff; his siblings, Jace Kallhoff, Tyee Kallhoff, Asiah Kallhoff, Cheyton Kallhoff and Deklan Kallhoff; his grandparents, Michael “Mike” Kallhoff, Oakdale; Frances Kallhoff, Oakdale; Jeanner Aguilar, Omaha; and Jim Hopkins, Grand Island; his aunts and uncles, Jeremy Hopkins, Omaha; Jacey Hopkins, Jesus Penaflor, Norfolk; Elisha (Kallhoff) and Landon Koehler, Plainview; Vincent and Nikki (Rice) Kallhoff, Oakdale; and Samuel and Brittany (Bals) Kallhoff, Madison; 16 cousins; and many extended family members.
River was preceded in death by his great-grandparents, William and Jean Grimes; Richard “Bud” and Delilah Hollingsworth, Delmar and Betty Hopkins, Bernard Kallhoff, and Lovina and Boyd VanVleck; great-aunts and great-uncles, Bernard L. Kallhoff, Kelvin Molacek, Charles Wheeler, Jim and Rosemarie Froehlich, Robert Hendren, Ron Grimes, Tom Grimes and Roy Hopkins; cousins, Aaron Kallhoff and Autumn Matczyszyn; and an infant cousin.
River is endlessly loved, deeply missed and never forgotten. River will remain in the hearts of many forever.
