Ronnie Sudbeck FORDYCE — Ronald G. “Ronnie” Sudbeck, 87, Fordyce, died May 29, 2024, at the Holmes Lake Rehab and Care Center, Lincoln.

Mass of Christian Burial will be June 6, at 10:30 a.m., at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Fordyce, with the Rev. Jim Keiter officiating.

Burial will be at St. John the Baptist Cemetery. Fordyce. Pallbearers will be Gerold Sudbeck, Dale Sudbeck; Daryl Sudbeck, Eric Klanderud, John Kleinschmit and Kerry Dendinger.

Visitation will be Wednesday, at church, from 5-7 p.m., with a Vigil Service at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue Thursday, one hour prior to services. Arrangements are under the direction of the Wintz Funeral Home, Hartington.

Ronald George was born April 16, 1937, in Ethan, S.D., to Leo and Kathryn “Katie” (Wisner) Sudbeck. He grew up in the Bow Valley area and attended elementary school there. Ronnie began helping his father on the farm at a young age and continued to farm his entire life. Ronnie married Norma Jean Marie Kleinschmit June 9, 1959, in Bow Valley. After their marriage, they farmed and had a cattle and hog operation southwest of Fordyce until he retired.

Ronnie was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and the Catholic Order of Foresters. He served as an Extraordinary Minister of the Eucharist, and was a former parish council and West Catholic and Cedar Catholic High School board member, holding offices in both. In his younger years, he enjoyed playing baseball for the Bow Valley, Hartington and Fordyce teams, and as was a lifelong Boston Red Sox fan.

Ronnie is survived by his wife of 65 years, Norma, Lincoln; three children and spouses, Christie (Mark) Donnermeyer, Elkhorn; Kimberly (John) Davis, Raymond; Kelly (Kimberly) Sudbeck, Lincoln; four grandchildren, Brenton and Peyton Davis, and Greyeton and Lillian Sudbeck; two siblings, Phyllis Larson, Torrence, Calif., and Marlys (Larry) Klanderud, Bellevue.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Kathryn Sudbeck; sister, Valerie Pautler; brother and best friend, Donavin “Bud” Sudbeck; brothers-in-law, Herbert Pautler and Axel “Bob” Larson; sister-in-law, Henrietta Sudbeck; and nephews, Gary Pautler and Wayne Larson.
