RANDOLPH — Memorial services for Virginia C. Sellon, 91, Randolph, will be 11 a.m., Feb. 8, at the First United Methodist Church, Randolph.

Virginia Carol Sellon died peacefully Jan. 19, 2024, with her family by her side.

Virginia was born May 11, 1932, in Randolph, to Pete and Violet (Thomas) Milander. She graduated from Randolph High School in 1950. She married Robert Vern Sellon, Randolph, in November of 1950. They shared 69 years of marriage before Robert died in December 2019.

Virginia was a lifelong resident of Randolph, except during WWII, when her parents moved to Vallejo, Calif., to work for the war effort. She and her husband, Robert, ran Sellon’s Machine Shop on Main Street, which was a family-owned business operating since 1919. Virginia worked as a teacher’s aide for the Randoph Public Schools for 29 years and taught swimming lessons, CPR and trained lifeguards in the area for 40 years. She also enjoyed managing her apartments in Norfolk.

Virginia was actively involved in many activities including being a long-time member of the First United Methodist Church, P.E.O. Sisterhood, Order of Eastern Star, Randolph Public Library board member and Story Hour reader, Sunday School teacher, Modern Mrs. Club, Campfire Girls leader and was selected Runner-Up in the Mrs. Nebraska Contest in 1962. She especially enjoyed family gatherings in Frisco, Colo., and Scottsdale, Ariz.

Virginia will be remembered most for her caring, positive and loving manner she treated each person she encountered. Her love and devotion expressed toward her husband, children, grandchildren and those friends and family of her beloved Randolph community will be greatly missed.

Virginia is preceded in death by her spouse, Robert; her father and mother; and sister, Julie (Milander) Holthaus.

She is survived by her four children, Ann Shebesta, Pheonix, Ariz.; Bruce Sellon (Cindy), Fort Myers, Fla.; Paul Sellon (Sue Ann), Hamburg, Iowa; and Roberta Gear, Scottsdale, Ariz.; and 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Lied Randolph Public Library.
