Daniel Gerald was born Aug. 28, 1973, in Storm Lake, Iowa, to Gerald Raymond and Connie Sue (Frerichs) Wiedenfeld. He lived in Fonda, Iowa, until he was one year old, then moved to the current family farm, until he graduated from Cedar Catholic High School in 1991. He then attended Northeast Community College, Norfolk. In 1993, Dan moved back to the family farm and started farming with his dad and helped build it to what it is today. Dan married Angela Lee Lounsbery Aug. 3, 1996, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Hartington.
Dan was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus in Hartington. He enjoyed helping with the parish garage sales. Dan coached Little League basketball for the City of Hartington for over 20 years. He also enjoyed refereeing local basketball games. In his younger years, he enjoyed 4-H and showing steers. Dan loved camping and family vacations as well. He enjoyed farming and working with cattle, loved playing music wherever he went, and playing cards and board games. He wanted everyone to have fun, especially his boys. There was nothing he wouldn’t do for them. He loved to play cornhole with all of his family and friends and enjoyed making everyone’s experience for the game fun. Dan also loved the 4th of July and would spend weeks preparing to have the best fireworks show. Dan loved his family and friends, but most of all he was proud of his boys and all their accomplishments. Dan had a heart of gold and was an amazing husband, father, and son. He will be greatly missed.
