CROFTON — JoAnn E. Poppe, 87, Crofton, died Oct. 24, 2023, at Arbor Care Center, Hartington, surrounded by her family.
Mass of Christian Burial was Oct. 30 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Crofton, with the Rev. Jim Keiter officiating. Burial was at St. Rose of Lima cemetery, Crofton.
Pallbearers were her grandchildren, Jason Drotzmann, Kelly Drotzmann, Brent Drotzmann, Travis Poppe, Cassie Mueller, Joey Tramp, Lindsay Peterson and Megan Dreesen.
Honorary pallbearers were Bobby Drotzmann and Chad Poppe.
Visitation and a vigil service were Sunday, at the church, and continued Monday, one hour prior to services.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Wintz Funeral Home, Hartington.
JoAnn was born Oct. 31, 1935, in Crofton, to Henry and Veronica (Feldhacker) Foxhoven. She grew up in the Constance area with her 10 siblings. JoAnn did various jobs around the area, cleaning houses, along with helping out on the family farm. JoAnn’s parents had both died before she married Raymond C. Poppe, June 8, 1955, in Constance. It was a double wedding ceremony with her sister, Beatrice, and Ray’s brother, John. JoAnn was a housewife and helped Ray on the farm. JoAnn and Raymond raised four children, Arlen, Cindy, Alan and Lori.
JoAnn was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. She belonged to the Christian Mothers, Crofton American Legion Auxiliary, and years ago she was a part of a Bible study group.
JoAnn is survived by her four children, Arlen Poppe, Crofton; Cindy (Joe) Kollars, Crofton; Alan (Donna) Poppe, Crofton; and Lori (Kevin) Tramp, Crofton; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Darlene (Konrad) Maibaum, Crofton, and Beatrice Poppe, Hartington; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter-in-law, Peggy Poppe; two grandsons, Bobby Drotzmann and Chad Poppe; her siblings, Roseline Gubbels, Angeline Ryan, Gerald Foxhoven, Art Foxhoven, Damien Foxhoven, Daniel Foxhoven, Joseph Foxhoven and Henry Foxhoven.
