Neil Ray Oxley
He was born Oct. 7, 1941, in Sioux City, Iowa, the son of Don H. and Marjorie (Lund) Oxley. He grew up on a farm northeast of Laurel. Neil spent many happy times with his neighbors and friends while attending the Logan Center Evangelical United Brethren Church and the Logan Center country school. Neil graduated from Laurel High School in 1959. After graduation, Neil worked on the family farm in addition to supplemental work away from the farm to earn extra income. Neil also took business classes at Norfolk Business School before moving to Omaha in 1964. He worked in the trucking industry and, through the years, held several positions in the commercial aspect of agriculture, including truck part and equipment sales, business management and tech specialist. Neil loved working with people and enjoyed solving problems for his customers.
In 1966, Neil was baptized into Christ at the Bellevue Church of Christ, Bel levue. He married Carolyn Ann Stevens Nov. 5, 1966, and became the proud father of Brian in 1973 and Greg in 1977.
Neil was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Gary Oxley; niece, Melissa, and great nephew, Alex Oxley.
Neil is survived by his wife, Carolyn; sons, Brian (Lisa) Oxley and Greg (Tara) Oxley; two grandchildren, Brynna and Caden; sister, Darlene (Ralph) Conradson; sister-in-law, Gloria; and nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services were Sept. 1 at the Southwest Church of Christ, Omaha, under the direction of Roberson Funeral Home, Bethany, Mo. The family received one hour prior to services Friday, at the church. Burial was Sept. 2 in Allen Cemetery, Eagleville, Mo.
