NEBRASKA CITY — Suellen “Sue” Eickhoff, 80, Nebraska City, died Aug. 12, 2023, at Bryan West Medical Center, Lincoln. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m., Aug. 21, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Nebraska City, with Frs. Jeff Eickhoff and Mark Pfeiffer celebrating the Mass. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Nebraska City. The family will greet friends from 5-7 p.m., Sunday, at Gude Mortuary, Nebraska City. A Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Suellen Claire Eickhoff was born Oct. 29, 1942, in Norfolk, the daughter of John Henry and Cecilia Ann (Dugan) Beuck. Her family lived in Belden, when she was born and then moved to Hartington, where she was raised and graduated from Holy Trinity High School. She attended Duchesne College for one year and then transferred to the University of South Dakota, where she earned her bachelor’s degree of Fine Arts in Education. While in college, Sue was a member of the Alpha-Phi Sorority. Sue married Charles Alfred Eickhoff Feb. 8, 1964, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Hartington. After their marriage, they lived in Boston, Mass., where Charles was a Lieutenant in the United States Army.

They moved to Shenandoah, Iowa, in 1965, and Sue taught at Hamburg, Iowa, as the art teacher for two years. In 1966, Sue and Charles moved to Nebraska City, where they raised their children. Sue taught at Lourdes Central Catholic as an Art Teacher for 22 years.

She is survived by her husband, Charles Eickhoff, Nebraska City; children, Joan Bradley (Jeff), Nebraska City, and Amy Jahn (Jeff), Columbus; daughter-in-law, Lia Eickhoff, Lincoln; nine grandchildren, Luke Bradley, Emily Kenney (Jake), Hailey Eickhoff, Joe Jahn, Caitlin Jahn, Ellie Jahn, Russell Pettigrew (Brittney), Adam Pettigrew (Paige) and Mathew Pettigrew; two great-grandchildren, Charlie Beuck Kenney and Raelia Pettigrew; a sister, Margaret Doyle, Arizona; brother-inlaw, Donn Morris, Colorado; and other family and friends.

Sue was preceded in death by son, Steven Eickhoff, Nov. 28, 2015; her parents; two sisters, Joan Tideman and Barbara Morris; and brothers-in-law, Ron Tideman and John Doyle.

Memorials may be directed to St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Nebraska City.
