Posted in:

LESTERVILLE - The Crofton Bluejays ended the Wynot Expos’ season with a 5-2 win here in District 6-B Baseball Tournament here Aug. 1.

The Bluejays pounded out 11 hits in the game while the Expos registered eight, including a home run by Lee Heimes.

The loss ended Wynot’s season with a 6-14 record.

Heimes opened the scoring in the game with his long ball over the right field wall to open the third inning and give the Expos a short-lived, 1-0 lead.

Crofton would score five runs in the bottom of the third which proved to be enough for winning pitcher, Zach Hegge. Hegge went the distance in the 9-inning contest, scattering the eight hits, allowing the two runs, walked four and struck out 13 Wynot batters.

Jackson Sudbeck took the hardluck loss on the mound for the Expos, allowing 11 hits the five runs and striking out seven.

Wynot scored another run in the fifth where Sudbeck helped his own cause with a one-out double to right field.

After a strikeout, Peyton Wieseler rifled a shot back up the middle for a base hit, chasing Sudbeck home.

Jalen Wieseler worked a walk but the threat was ended by a ground ball to third base.

Heimes and Sudbeck both ended the game 3-for-4, with Heimes clobbering the home run and Sudbeck had two doubles.

Heimes singled to open the ninth ahead of Sudbeck’s double, but a couple of strikeouts and a ground out kept Wynot from adding to the score.
