HARTINGTON – The Lewis and Clark Natural Resource District invites students to participate in a national poster contest sponsored by the National Association of Conservation Districts and the NACD Auxiliary. NACD, founded in 1946, is a nonprofit organization representing nearly 3,000 conservation districts in 50 states and U.S. territories. This year’s theme for the contest is “One Water.”

LINCOLN – A delegation of 12 nutritionists and buyers from different feed-producing companies in Mexico were in the Midwest and Nebraska this week to gain a better understanding of the U.S. ethanol sector. In conjunction with the DDGS Symposium, the delegation visited Nebraska to see U.S. corn production areas, visit ethanol plants and meet with potential business partners.
Ongoing dry and drought conditions in many parts of the state are supporting hay and forage prices as we look toward this fall. Perennial dryland hay production in many parts of Nebraska has been less than average.
DAKOTA CITY – Two local candidates seeking to be the next county court judge in the region were not selected to move on to the next step in the process.

NORFOLK – The Northeast Community College volleyball team has a roster filled with 16 Nebraskans and has what they hope to be a perfect mix of newcomers and returners. The eight freshmen and eight sophomores will hit the court for the first time in a competitive game together at 9 a.m. Friday in Garden City, Kan. when they will take on Frank Phillips College in the Scooter’s Coffee Invitational.
COLERIDGE – The Coleridge Area Fund Advisory Committee recently awarded four grants from its Unrestricted Endowment Account to local worthy causes that are improving quality of life for those living in the Coleridge area.
