Hildegarde Huss COLERIDGE — Hildegarde G. Huss, 88, Coleridge, died Aug. 19, 2024, at Park View Haven Nursing Home, Coleridge.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Aug. 22, at 10:30 a.m., at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Hartington, with Rev. Owen Korte officiating.

Burial will be at St. Michael’s Cemetery, Hartington.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Nathan Kalin, Jared Kalin, Trenton Folkers, Jamie Huss, Kory Schaefer, Kyle Schaefer, Houston Huss and Kelby Schaefer.

Honorary pallbearers will be her five granddaughters, Stacie Vance, Dani Lynn Marcial, Hiliary Vanness, Zyana Huss and Aniya Huss.

Visitation will be Wednesday, at church, from 5-7 p.m., with a Vigil Service at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue Thursday, one hour prior to services.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Wintz Funeral Home, Hartington.

Hildegarde G. was born July 1, 1936, in Hartington, to Frank A. and Mary E. (Vonhagen) Pick Sr. She grew up northwest of Hartington, graduating from Holy Trinity High School in 1953. Hildie married Donald Clarence Huss Dec. 28, 1955, in Hartington. After their marriage, they moved to a farm west of Coleridge. Hildie helped Don on the farm until they moved into Coleridge in 1985. She then worked for D&K Trailers, Coleridge, as the bookkeeper. Hildie was a dedicated employee which spanned for 29 years here.

Hildie was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Hartington and St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Coleridge, and its altar society. She was an avid bowler, belonging to two leagues, one in Coleridge and the Tuesday league in Hartington. Hildie participated in the State Bowling tournament for many years and was fortunate to have her daughters, Linda and Donna, on her team. Hildie also enjoyed attending her children’s and grandchildren’s activities. She was also an avid gardener which always provided her family and friends with lots of produce. Hildie enjoyed working on jigsaw puzzles.

Hildie is survived by her six children, Linda Folkers, Hartington; Donna (Ed) Kalin, Waterloo; Larry (Donna) Huss, Hartington; Dan (Beth) Huss, Stanton; Loyla (Rich) Schaefer, Norfolk; and Dave (Megan) Huss, Sterling, Colo.; 13 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren, Harper and Henrik Kalin, Cali and Lily Kalin, Aubree Vance, Tristan Vance, Beckett Francis and Chase Marcial; one step great-grandson, Grayson Rowlett; brother-in-law, Robert Huss, Hartington; and many nieces and nephews.

Hildie was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Mary Pick Sr.; husband, Donald, March 12, 2004, at the age of 68; son-in-law, Robert Folkers; two sisters, Eleanor Riibe and Mary Ann Larsen; a brother, Frankie Pick Jr; mother and father-in-law, Clarence and Viola Huss; brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Kathy Huss; sister-in-law, Janet Huss; brothersin-law, Gene Riibe and Richard Larsen; and nephews, Brian Larsen and Verlin Larsen.
