Haskell Ag Lab Field Day

The demonstrations were all part of the Haskell Ag Lab’s Family Field Day, which was held recently at Concord. This event educates the public on the importance of science and agriculture through exhibits, demonstrations, presentations, and tours. It provides researchbased programming to showcase cutting-edge agricultural practices utilized at the Haskell Agricultural Laboratory, and highlights the research and projects produced by the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and Nebraska Extension. It features both commercial exhibits and educational booths. Presentations throughout the day included “Nebraska Land Values and Cash Rental Rates in 2024” by Jim Jansen, an update on the Great Plains Heifer Development Program by Connor Biehler, and Glennis McClure presented “What’s Your Cost of Production and Breakeven Prices? The ABC’s of Enterprise Budgeting”. The day featured a Northeast Arboretum Tour in the morning and research tours with various educators and specialists throughout the day. Activities for the entire family included farm safety, rocket demonstrations, STEM activities, grain bin safety demonstrations, horticulture information, and much more.
