Body of missing man recovered from river

YANKTON, S.D. –The body of a missing Yankton, S.D., man was recovered Sunday from the MIssouri River where he went msising the week before.

A Nebraska boater found 22-year-old Phillip Snoozy deceased along the South Dakota shoreline Sunday afternoon and called law enforcement. Yankton County Sheriff’s Office responded and located Snoozy’s body about one-fourth mile east of the exit mouth of the James River.

Emergency personnel were able to safely recover and secure the body and identify it as Snoozy.

The Yankton and Cedar County Sheriff’s Office are still investigating the death.

Many agencies assisted in the search and recovery efforts including the National Park Service, Yankton County Emergency Management, Yankton County EMS, Yankton County Coroner’s Office, Yankton Search & Rescue, South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks. In Nebraska, Cedar County Emergency Management and Nebraska Game & Parks, along with other agencies, assisted.
