CROFTON – Area residents may have to make alternate travel plans if they plan to head out to the lake this summer camping and boating season.
Starting this week, the road that crosses Gavins Point Dam over the Missouri River will be completely closed – including nights and weekends – through the summer months.
Due to the features of work and necessary sequencing on the dam’s intake bridge, Crest Road is estimated to remain closed into the early parts of August, according to representatives of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Omaha District.
This full road closure will be utilized to perform concrete repairs to the intake bridge. This will include demolition, surface preparation and material placement for deck, vertical and overhead spalls.
The work also will include a low slump overlay and the installation of a new drainage system.
People are asked to take alternate routes during the road closure.
