HOMER - The Laurel-Concord-Coleridge Bears and Lady Bears traveled to Homer April 17 for the Homer Invitational at Ivan Krumwiede Field and the Bears finished fourth in the team race with 62 points and the Lady Bears were seventh with 21.
Homer won the boys’ title with 83 points, Westwood out of Iowa was second with 80.5.
Dakota Valley out of South Dakota on the girls’ division of the meet with 126 points with Wisner-Pilger taking home the runner-up trophy after posting 88 team points, two points better than Tri County Northeast.
Drey Puppe had his hands and legs in on 24 points for the Bears after winning the 110-meter high hurdles with a time of 14.58 seconds, placing second in the 300 hurdles with a time of 41.23 seconds and grabbing a third-place finish in the high jump after clearing the bar at 5-feet-6-inches.
Jaylen Carpenter picked up a third-place medal in the shot put with a heave of 42-06 and Ian Sohler, Dayton Korth and Josiah Tasler were fourth, fifth and sixth respectively in the triple jump.
The Bears scored some points in the relays with the 1,600-meter squad of Hunter Benson, Sohler, Tasler and Shane Langford placing fourth and the distance medley quartet of Carter Korth, Benson, Sebastian VanDrogelen and Langford also finishing fourth.
The Lady Bears did most of their scoring in the relays.
The 1,600-meter team of Hattie McCorkindale, Kate Tasler, Talie Erwin and Carlie Kvols circled the track four times in 4:30.85 for second place and eight team points.
The distance medley group of Faith Galvin, Erwin, Kvols and Tasler placed third.
The 800-meter sprint medley team of Grace Galvin, Laney Folkers, McCorkindale and Jolynn Kincaid placed fourth and the 400-meter team of McCorkindale, Grace Galvin, Folkers and Kincaid finished sixth.
Individually, Erwin was fifth in the high jump.
Laurel-Concord-Coleridge was set to host its own invitational on April 22 and will compete in the Ponca Invitational on April 29.
