Wynot track teams compete in Hartington again

HARTINGTON - For the fourth time this season, the Wynot Blue Devil and Lady Blue Devil track teams made the trip to Hartington for a track meet. This one was the Trojan Invitational hosted by Cedar Catholic.

The Blue Devils finished seventh in the boys’ division of the meet while the Lady Blue Devils ended up eighth.

Cedar Catholic won the boys title while Tri County Northeast won the girls championship.

Lane Heimes, Braylon Hans and a couple of relays helped the Blue Devils post 13 points on the day.

Heimes was second in the high jump after both jumpers cleared 6-feet but Heimes had more misses at a lower height and settled for the silver medal.

Hans was fifth in the long jump after landing in the sand after a leap of 19-feet.

The Blue Devils 3,200 relay team of Jace Lange, Bentley Guenther, Trey Gowery and Kreyton Koch finished fifth in the event and the 400-meter group of Heimes, Kotner Koch, Kreyton Koch and Hans placed sixth.

Tiara Sudbeck paced the Lady Blue Devils with thrid-place showing in the long jump and a sixth-place finish in the 100-meter dash.

Addison Sharpe used a time of 2:43.84 to finish fifth in the 800.

Kiera Heimes, Joslyn Hochstein, Sharpe and Sudbeck toted the baton around the track four times in 4:48.02 which was good enough for fourth place.

Cedar Catholic’s Madison Eickhoff catches up to Randolph’s Alaina Schulz on the backstretch during their relay race last week.
