PLAINVIEW - The Cardinal golf team teed off the 2025 season at the Larry Knaak Invitational at the Plainview Country Club April 12.
Randolph would finish 11th in the 17-team tournament after carding an 18-hole total of 394.
Creighton won the team title with a 330, two strokes better than runner-up Battle Creek.
West Holt was third at 350, Summerland was fourth at 352 and CWC rounded out the top five with a 359.
Battle Creek’s Brody Bessmer was the medalist after winning a playoff with Calvin Wilmes of Creighton after each golfer finished with a 73. William Jesse of CWC was third with a 79; Crofton’s Grant Schieffer carded an 81 for fourth and Teegan Burns of Creighton was fifth with an 82.
Shaw Backer and Bentley Reimers each shot a 93 to pace the Redbirds which placed them 37th and 39th respectively out of the 81 players on the course.
“The conditions were really tough at Plainview,” said Coach Cory Simpson. “(It was) very windy, but we’ll look to bounce back with a triangular at home (April 15).”
Logan Leinemann shot a 103. Ryan Engel was next with a 105 and Dayton Winkelbauer carded a 118.
The Cardinals were set to host the triangular with Laurel-Concord-Coleridge and Creighton on April 15 and will head to Cedarview Country Club for the LCC Invitational on April 17.
