Local father, son play at concert

NORFOLK –Just like the sound of robins can bring inspiration in spring, Northeast Community College concertgoers may have felt motivation from songs during the annual Spring Concert.

On a sunny April 6, both the Community/ College Concert Band and College Choir mixed some spring songs as part of their performances.

Andrew Schultz, music instructor at Randolph Public Schools, and his son, Matthew, both performed with the band. Andrew played euphonium and Matthew, the tuba.

The Northeast Concert Band includes: Sydney Erickson, Kalysa Gemaechlich, Carrie Jensen, Tanesha King, Linda Steele, all of Norfolk; David Klee, Columbus; Amber Knight and Marie Scheer, both of Madison; Kelli Tunender, O’Neill, flute or piccolo; Melora Hirschman, Norfolk, bassoon; Wynter Fulsaas, Plainview; Rhyan Greenough, Norfolk; Madison Parker, Tilden; Diego Ruvalcaba, Wakefield; Jackson Zimmerman, Pierce, alto saxophone; Tom Brodecky, Columbus; Chris Efta, Pierce; Alexis Lind, Tilden; Jacob Mann, Winside; Jason Schmidt, Battle Creek; Dave Sieler, Norfolk, trombone; Seth Rivest, Battle Creek; Matthew Schultz, Randolph, tuba; Brooke Painter, Norfolk; Emily Weisenburger, Norfolk; Caylan Hirschman, Cornfield, oboe; Karen Goetsch, Norfolk; Chelsea Hartmann, Rapid City, S.D.; Kolby Nielsen, Norfolk; Josiah Phelps, Newman Grove; Sue Sieler, Norfolk, playing clarinet; Haley Riebeling, Sioux Center, Iowa, bass clarinet; Tory Stevens, Creighton, on tenor saxophone, among other students.
