LCC opens golf season at Plainview

PLAINVIEW — The Laurel-Concord-Coleridge golf team teed off the 2025 season at the Larry Knaak Invitational at the Plainview Country Club April 12.

LCC would finish seventh in the 17-team tournament after carding an 18-hole total of 363.

Creighton won the team title with a 330, two strokes better than runner-up Battle Creek. West Holt was third at 350, Summerland was fourth at 352 and CWC rounded out the top five with a 359.

Battle Creek’s Brody Bessmer was the medalist after winning a playoff with Calvin Wilmes of Creighton after each golfer finished with a 73. William Jesse of CWC was third with a 79, Crofton’s Grant Schieffer carded an 81 for fourth and Teegan Burns of Creighton was fifth with an 82.

Gibson Roberts paced Laurel-Concord-Coleridge after firing an 89, just one shot out of the medals. Cade Johnson was a stroke behind with a 90.

Talon Carson and Tanner Thompson each came in with a 92 and Kolten Settje recorded a 108.

The Bears were set to head west for a triangular with Randolph and Creighton on April 15 before hosting their own invitational April 17 at Cedarview Country Club.
