OMAHA – Twenty-four Studio 103 dancers went head to head with about other dancers at a competition at the Orpheum Theater in Omaha last weekend and came away with accolades and awards.
“I can’t express how proud we are of these kids,” said Chelsea Kuchta, Studio 103 owner. “Such a large competition and these girls . . . rocked it. Congratulations, girls, on a job well done.”
Results from the competition include: - “Sushi” received first overall out of more than 20 dances;Judges award for Squeaky Clean; fifth overall out of 200 routines.
- “We’re Not Going to Take It,” third overall and choreography award. - “Tambourine,” sixth overall, called back for a power performance Best in Show.
- Sopie Kuchta and Harlow Gerdes, best costume. - Futures group, second and third overall. - Alexia Dibbert and Lilly Kuchta received a convention scholarship. - “Come Back to You,” Judges award for Picturesque, fifth overall. - Dazzling Diamonds group, first overall with “America’s Sweetheart,” second overall with “Queen,” and third overall with “Daylight.”
- “Queen,” chosen for a power performance Best in Show. - Solo awards: Erika Graf, Lilly Kuchta, first place; Aubrey Weyhrich, Bria Reimers, Sophie Kuchta, placing top 5, some with more than 40 in the category.
- Duet awards: Lilly Kuchta and Bria Reimers, first place; Lilly Kuchta and Meghann Miller, second place; Sophie Kuchta and Harlow Gerdes, first place and third place; Caidynce Worlein and Rylie Weyhrich, third place.
Chelsea said each of the studio’s group dances have received first place at competitions this year.
“These kids know how to represent their small town,” she said. “It amazes how positive and encouraging this group of girls are this year, all cheering not only their teammates on but other studios they’re competing against. And being backed by the best group of dance moms who are so encouraging and supportive to all really makes for a great competition season. “
Studio 103 competitive dancers have one more event this season. “There have been no small competitions this year. These girls have earned their placements and are well deserved,” Chelsea said.
