LAUREl — Laurel's new childcare facility will host an open house Monday.
The Building Blocks Early Childhood and Family Development Center at 308 Lonsdale Avenue, officially opened its doors Jan. 27, welcoming families to outstanding care, innovative programs and signature services.
The Center will host a grand opening and ribbon cutting event March 31 at 6pm.
The Center’s state-of-the-art facility and professional staff will serve children ages 6 weeks to 13 years old, providing a warm, nurturing environment designed to inspire curiosity, creativity and a lifelong love of learning.
“The Center’s opening is a significant milestone for our community and its children and families,” said Megan Pippitt, Building Blocks Early Childhood and Family Development Center Board President.
“The Building Blocks Board, Laurel-Concord-Coleridge Schools and the Center’s professional staff have joined forces, working toward the common goal of delivering exceptional early childhood education and care to families in Laurel and the surrounding area,” conveyed Pippitt.
"Laurel-Concord-Coleridge School is proud to be a partner in this initiative. Our district is committed to fostering educational opportunities at every stage, and we believe that this collaboration will have lasting benefits for our students and our entire community," said Jeremy Christiansen, LCC Superintendent and Building Blocks Board member.
"High-quality early childhood education lays the foundation for lifelong success. Building Blocks is filling a critical need in our community, ensuring that our youngest learners have access to enriching experiences that support their cognitive, social, and emotional growth,” said Christiansen.
“The Center’s curriculum will encourage children to explore, discover, and learn at their own pace while supporting cognitive, emotional, and physical development,” said Amanda Christensen, Building Blocks Director.
To support the Center’s exceptional curriculum offerings, a newly built facility features beautifully designed classrooms, age-appropriate furniture and fixtures and thoughtfully crafted outdoor spaces that combine safety, exploration, and wonder to create the ultimate environment for young learners.
“Every detail of this new facility has thoughtfully been designed to foster growth and learning while providing families with peace of mind,” said Christensen.
Christensen said families will also benefit from the Center’s Brightwheel app, which provides real-time updates, photos and communications throughout the day to ensure parents feel connected and informed.
“We look forward to building lasting relationships with the families we serve and becoming part of this wonderful community,” said Christensen.
"Strong schools help build strong communities, and access to early childhood care is a vital piece of that puzzle. The opening of Building Blocks is a game-changer for families in our area, providing an essential service that helps parents remain in the workforce and allows children to thrive from the very start of their educational journey," echoed Jeremy Christiansen.
“We’re thankful for the grants that our non-profit has been awarded for the project and appreciate the financial support from community members who have already stepped up and made donations toward construction and staffing costs of the Center thus far,” conveyed Megan Pippitt.
According to Pippitt, the Center is seeking additional donations/funding with the goal of keeping daily rates at a comfortable level that families can afford. More details on this will be shared at the Center’s grand opening and ribbon cutting event slated for March 31st at 6pm.
The grand opening will allow parents and children to tour the facility, interact with staff, and get a firsthand look at what sets Building Blocks Early Childhood and Family Development Center apart from the rest. The event is open to the public.
