The Laurel-Concord-Coleridge Speech Team had a strong performance at Saturday’s District meet in Schuyler. The team had five medalists, including one triple medalist, two performers earning double medals, and three students qualifying for the State Speech meet in four events. Kennedy Hall (left) qualified for State in Extemporaneous Speaking after winning District gold in that event. She also earned first-place honors in Informative Speaking to earn a spot at State in that event, as well. Her Persuasive Speech just missed out on a trip to State, as she finished fourth in that event. Kolten Settje and Emma Sohler (above) earned a trip to State with their third-place District finish in the Duet category. Settje also qualified for State with his Humorous Speech taking second at Districts in that category. Also earning medals at the District meet were Allysa Paulhamus, who earned a sixth-place medal in Serious Prose and Cloey Young, who was sixth in Poetry. The LCC trio will now compete at the State Speech Meet Thursday in Kearney.
