HARTINGTON— Blowing and drifting snow caused a seven-car pile-up on Highway 81 seven-and-ahalf miles south of Pleasant Valley.

Cedar County Sheriff John Ribbe said no one was severely injured in the accident.

The pile-up started shortly after noon on Wednesday when Leroy Bradley of Plainview got stuck in a snow drift at the bottom of a hill.

Guard rails on either side of the road caused the snow to drift across the road and visibility in this area was near zero. A north-bound auto driven by Merle Ellingwood of Kansas hit the Bradley car. Before either of the vehicles could be pulled off the road, more vehicles collided with them.
