Wynot players honored by L&C coaches

WYNOT - Five Wynot Blue Devils and four Lady Blue Devils were honored by the Lewis & Clark Conference coaches by being listed on the All-Conference and All-Conference honorable mention lists this past week.

Junior, Kotner Koch was named to the All-Conference First Team, senior Andrew Haberman found a spot on the second team and junior Devin Brummer made the third team for coach Lee Heimes and the Blue Devils.

Killian Steinhaus and Justin Heimes were tabbed honorable mention by the conference coaches.

Junior Kenna Oligmueller was named to the First team for the girls and classmate Jaylin Geisen was placed on the Third Team.

Haley Wieseler and Addison Sharpe were named Honorable Mention All Conference.

The five Blue Devils listed were the core of the Wynot team that finished the season in the D2 state finals earlier this month, and along with four or five additional Blue Devils, truly personified the word “team.”

Not one Wynot player averaged more than 10 points per game and still found a way to the final game of the season.

“Kotner was very consistent, well, a lot of our guys were, but he was really consistent,” said Heimes, the coach. “He was very good defensively and was always working hard.”

Koch averaged just under 10 points per game.

“Andrew is very competitive which sets him apart from everyone else,” the coach said of Haberman. “He showed the way and everyone else followed the example he set.”

“Devin has a great shooting ability from the outside,” said Heimes of Brummer. “He really improved as the season went along. He really grew into a good player.”

Steinhaus and Justin Heimes were instrumental in Wynot’s run at the end of the season.

“Justin had a great state tournament and he improved a lot this season,” Coach Heimes said. “Killian just makes things happen on both ends of the court.”
