HARTINGTON — The Cedar Catholic golf team returns three varsity players from last year’s team for Trojan head coach Rick Kuehn.
“Golf should be interesting this year,” said the coach. “We should have a lot of experience coming back with Langston Christensen, Maverick Heine and Memphis Ulrich and we do have a freshman coming in, Toby Heine, who should have an immediate impact for the varsity squad.”
The rest of the team is a work in progress, he said.
Bodie Hochstein, who would have figured into the varsity mix is out for the spring recovering from knee surgery.
“We’re going to need some people to step up to fill spots we have open, though,” Kuehn said. “Time will tell.”
The players to fill the spots will come from an additional eight golfers.
Ben Kleinschmit (12), Jackson Klug (11), Landyn Keiser (10), Henry Becker (10), Dayne Rolfes (09), Dawson Dresden (09), Kody Bartling (09) and Hudson Dendinger will be looking to find varsity or junior varsity spots with the Trojans.
Norfolk Catholic looks to be the area team to beat, Kuehn said.
“They have all of their varsity guys back,” he said. “But like all sports, you never know.”
