Wortmann lands spot on All Conf. First Team

HARTINGTON - Sophomore, Anisten Wortmann earned a spot on the Mid-State Conference first team after the 2024-25 season, Addison Walter and Katelyn Arens were also honored, earning spots on the MidState Honorable Mention team.

“I was happy to see Anisten get this recognition,” her dad and coach, Craig Wortmann, said. “She has worked very hard this year and has been a big part of our success throughout the season. Her versatility to play all positions and her game speed allow us us to really run the floor.”

The Lady Trojans also had a couple of honorable mention players on the elite team, led by a couple of inside players, Addison Walter and Katelyn Arens.

Walter has been a “person to rely on, “ all season and Arens had the state tournament “of a lifetime” after coming alive in Lincoln after doing all of the dirty work inside all season long.

“I am so proud of the way Katelyn ended her senior year,” said Wortmann the coach. “She has continued to get better as she went through her four years. We could not have made the run without any of the girls, but Katelyn will be missed next year for sure. She was a great leader on and off the court for us as well.”

Walter also grabbed a spot on the honorable mention squad.

“Addison has worked very hard with us and throughout her summers, and we are very happy to see her get this mention,” Wortmann said. “We look for even more from her next year. With her inside and outside game, she will continue to be a big part of our success next season.”

The Lady Trojans went into the 2025 Nebraska Class D-1 State Championships with a 15-11 record and exited the 3-day affair with a 17-12 mark.

“We had a great season,” Wortmann said. “And we had many more important parts from the team which weren’t really recognized in the conference team or honorable mention.”

Most notably, Lauren Bernecker, who started all four years and has been on the elite squad in her past.

“She started because she had to as a freshman, we didn’t have anyone else,” her coach said. “But I’ll tell you, she can play with us anytime she wants to, she’s a keeper.”
