Wynot athletes are ready to hit the track

WYNOT - Sixteen athletes showed up for the Wynot Blue Devil and Lady Blue Devil track teams with nine of the hopefuls being Blue Devils and seven will be Lady Blue Devils.

Coach Lee Heimes and his assistant coaches, Tammy Wieseler and Julie Heimes will be looking for improvement each day the group steps on the track.

“We will be a very young team,” said Lee Heimes. “We don’t have a lot of experience coming back and no one qualified for state last season.’

The Lady Blue Devils consist of; seniors Joslyn Hochstein, Eliza Lange and Addison Pinkelman; juniors, Addison Sharpe and Bennet Steffen; sophomore Tiara Sudbeck and freshman Aven Hanson.

The Blue Devils include; juniors Kotner Koch and Kason Hanson; sophomores Braylon Hans and Lane Heimes and freshmen Kreyton Koch, Jace Lange, Trey Gowery, Bentley Guenther and Blake Klug.

The teams will open the 2025 season at the Hartington-Newcastle Invitational on April 1 and will have a return trip to Russ Hochstein Field on April 8 and will make it three in a row with another trip on April 15.

The Blue Devils and Lady Blue Devils will close out April at the Ponca Invitational on April 29.

The Norfolk Classic is set for May 1 with the Lewis & Clark Conference Meet scheduled for May 3 in Winnebago.

The Nebraska Track and Field Championships will run on May 23 and 24 at Burke Stadium in Omaha.
