HNS students take part in Pierce Honor Band

PIERCE —Several Hartington-Newcastle students recently took part in the 2025 Pierce Honor Band.

Three students, Owen Lange,Ella Crosley and Tate Dickens all earned 1st Chair honors.

HNS students participating include: Ella Crosley - 1st Chair Clarinet Brooklynn Lenhoff - 7th Chair Clarinet Danika Kleinschmit - 16th Chair Clarinet Max Wiedenfeld - 5th Chair Alto Sax Harper Folkers - 8th Chair Alto Sax Tate Dickens - 1st Chair Tenor Sax Malyla Zach - 4th Chair Trumpet Makenzie Dailey - 7th Chair Trumpet Sarah Clark - 4th Chair Trombone Carter Reyes - 7th Chair Trombone Rylen Haug - 9th Chair Trombone Owen Lange - 1st Chair Tuba Ashlynn Dailey - 2nd Chair French Horn Logan Kneifl - 11th Chair Trumpet

Nebraska American Legion Department Commander Boyd Yochum presents Hartington’s John Grindvold with a certificate recognizing him as part of the World War II Recognition Program the Legion is undertaking. The award was presented during Saturday’s American Legion District III convention at the Hartington VFW. Grindvold, 105, proudly told those in attendance that he had just renewed his driver’s license for another four years.
Mary Hahne conducts the Hartington-Newcastle Junior High School Jazz Band as they play one of their selections at the Wayne State College Middle School Music Contest. The local musicians competed against 30 other schoools at the event.
