Several LCC FFA members qualify for State

NORFOLK — Several Laurel-Concord-Coleridge senior FFA members have earned their State Degrees.

They are: Aric Hall, Carter Korth, Connor Korth, Tanner Hansen, Jarret Lordemann, Lilly Pehrson, Abby Lipp and Yasmine Miranda.

Additionally, results from the recent Leadership Development Events (LDEs) have been announced.

These events are designed to help FFA members develop their leadership skills through various competitions and activities, such as public speaking, parliamentary procedure, and job interview preparation.

LCC State Qualifiers are: The Nursery and Landscape Team, which placed third overall. Team members are: Lilly Pehrson, Grace Galvin, Abby Lipp and Yasmine Miranda. The Floriculture Team, which placed third overall, also qualified for State. Team members are: Lilly Pehrson, Stella Kock, Jayden Campbell and Kennedy Hall.

There are 25 Career Development Events FFA members can participate in on the local, district, state and some on the national level. CDEs typically cover technical skill areas related to agriculture, food and natural resources career fields.

Today’s agricultural industry presents students with over 300 career opportunities.

Knowing that one in every three people in Nebraska is employed in an agriculturally based career, the Nebraska Agricultural Education Career Development Events (CDEs) help students develop the abilities to think critically, communicate clearly, and perform effectively in a competitive job market.

Nebraska hosts 25 CDEs, covering the technical knowledge and skill areas related to the agriculture, food, and natural resources career field. Students in agricultural education compete in a variety of events that sharpen their skills as they explore and experience careers in agriculture.

CDEs occur alongside the Nebraska FFA Convention in early spring on UNL’s East Campus, at Southeast Community College in Lincoln, and at Pinnacle Bank Arena.
