HARTINGTON—Several recent cases of vandalism at the Hartington Airport are now under a joint investigation by the Cedar County Sheriff’s Department and the Hartington Police Department.
In the most recent case, the approach lights at the end of the runway 31 were dismantled and the red lenses removed.

BOCA RATON, Fla.—Cameron Luna, 10, son of Charlotte Luna and the late Ruben Luna, and grandson of Harold and Betty Eickhoff, Hartington was born with Ollieris, a genetic bone disease. Because of the disease, one of Cameron’s legs is significantly shorter than the other. He is undergoing the Ilizarov procedure, which involves putting on an external device, cutting the bone and slowly adjusting the device until it straightens and lengthens the leg.

HARTINGTON—Matt Hames extended his school record at Cedar Catholic High School for threepointers to 178.
He is currently 13th all time in state boys’ basketball history. Neil Wortmann had 406 points on the year for an average of 17.7 per game. Jeff Jones also averaged in double digits for the season. He scored 270.

LINCOLN—A perfect season was not meant to be for the Ponca Indians. Ponca was defeated in the state finals to Humboldt-Table Rock by the score of 51-46 in the Class C2 state boys basketball championship.

HARTINGTON— To say the Jerry Dendinger family enjoys working together, would be a huge understatement.
Jerry’s Service, which is operated by Jerry and Marlene Dendinger and their sons Kerry and Kurt, reached 25 years in business on Jan 1, 2005.
The Dendinger family will celebrate the 25th anniversary of Jerry’s Service March 12 with a customer appreciation party at the Skylon Ballroom.

HARTINGTON — Cedar County courthouse employees who wish to smoke will have to find a new place for it. The Cedar County Commission put a new smoking ban in place at the courthouse. Commissioners outlawed smoking in the building a few years ago, but exempted one room, allowing employees to smoke in a downstairs room.
The action was taken after a survey of employees was taken showing the majority was in favor of the ban.
