CLEARWATER — After winning an opening round game in the C2-5 SubDistrict Tournament over Wisner-Pilger 60-52 on Feb. 24, the Laurel-Concord-Coleridge Bears were eliminated from the tournament by top-seeded Summerland 65-43 on Feb. 25 to end the season with a 9-16 record.
The Bobcats did most of their damage in the second and fourth quarters, outscoring the Bears 23-11 in the second and 16-9 in the fourth after gaining just three points on LCC in the first and third frames.
Gibson Roberts paced the Laurel-Concord-Coleridge offensive attack with 16 points on the night, Eli Haisch added nine and Cade Johnson tacked on six.
Johnson also grabbed nine rebounds in the contest, Roberts added four.
Johnson and Roberts each handed out three assists, Caleb Erwin dished out a couple and Carter Korth registered two steals.
In the win over the Gators, the teams played to a 14-14 draw at the end of the first eight minutes before the Bears grabbed some breathing room in the second frame to take a 31-23 lead into the halftime locker room.
Wisner-Pilger nibbled into the lead in the third by a point and LCC took the point back in the fourth, by outscoring the Gators 18-17 to make the 60-52 final score.
Roberts took charge of the Orange and Black by firing in 17 points to lead the Bears offensive attack, Erwin tossed in 11, Connor Korth added nine, Johnson had seven and Tanner Thompson contributed six.
Roberts added eight boards to his night; Connor Korth, Thompson and Johnson pulled down five missed shots each.
Erwin registered four steals.
