LINCOLN — Former Cedar Catholic Principal Terry Kathol has accepted a new position as principal at Scotus Central High School in Columbus.
Kathol currently serves as Principal at Lincoln Piux X High School in Lincoln, a position he has held since 2021.
He will leave that position this summer to begin his duties in Columbus.
“I am excited to join the Scotus family and continue the tradition of excellence that defines this institution, Kathol said.
His wife, Amy, who has been working as a special education teacher in Lincoln Public Schools, will become the new fourth grade teacher at St. Isidores Elementary School in Columbus.
Prior to taking the position in Lincoln, Kathol, a Hartington native, served as Principal at Holy Trinity and Cedar Catholic in Hartington. He became principal in Hartington in 2010. Prior to that, the Cedar Catholic graduate had filled several roles at the school, including as a teacher and coach.
The new position reunites him with Jeff Ohnoutka, who taught at Cedar Catholic in the late 1990s and early 2000s.
Ohnoutka is the chief administrative officer at Scotus. Prior to that, he served as the school’s principal.
Ohnoutka expressed his enthusiasm to have Kathol in Columbus.
“I am thrilled to welcome Mr. Kathol. His extensive experience at Hartington Cedar Catholic and Lincoln Pius X will be a tremendous asset to Scotus students and teachers. I look forward to working with him.”
