HUMPHREY — The Wynot Lady Blue Devils took on the Bancroft Rosalie Lady Panther in their D2-3 subdistrict game held at Humphrey on Tuesday night.
Wynot struggled the entire game to get their offense on track as the Lady Panthers would advance with the 58-31 win. Bancroft Rosalie’s guards gave the Lady Blue Devils all kinds of trouble forcing turnovers and converting on transition baskets for most of the game.
Wynot was led on offense by Kenna Oligmueller with eight points and the Lady Blue Devils got seven points apiece from Eliza Lange and Haley Wieseler.
Bancroft Rosalie put three players in double figures lead by Addison James with 14 points. Kairece Morris worked the inside for 14 points and Brooklyn Monroy hit 3 three pointers to finish with 11 points.
In the first quarter Wynot got off to a sluggish start as four points from Kenna Oligmueller is all the scoring they could manage. The Lady Panthers would get five points from Brooklyn Monroy and a basket each from Addison James and Jaya Snyder plus some free throws to build a 13-4 lead at the end of the quarter.
In the second frame, the Lady Panthers got a pair of three-pointers from Addison James and two offensive rebound put-backs from Kairece Morris.
Wynot kept pace with a three-pointer by Addison Sharpe and a basket by Jordan Foxhoven and 7-8 freethrows as both teams scored 12 points to keep the Lady Panthers lead at 25–16 a halftime.
The second half belonged to the Lady Panthers. Four more points each from Kenidee McClain and Kairece Morris and a basket each by the James sisters fueled the charge.
Wynot got three points from Haley Wieseler and a basket inside from Jordan Foxhoven as they fell further behind trailing 36-21 going into the final period of play.
In the fourth quarter the Lady Panthers opened up the scoring, outpacing the Lady Devils on a 22-10 run.
A pair of treys each from Brooklyn Monroy and Mairece Morris and five other Panthers scored. Wynot got three-pointers from Addison Sharpe and Eliza Lange and a offensive put-back of a rebound by Kenna Oligmueller.
Bancroft Rosalie advanced with the 58-31 win to play Archangel Catholic in the championship game.
Wynot’s season didn’t come to an end with the loss, though. The Lady Devils, 13-11, qualified for District action through the wildcard. The Lady Devils travel to Falls City Friday night to take on their usual state tournament nemesis, the Falls City Sacred Heart Irish.
