HARTINGTON —The Hartington- Newcastle School Board signed a two-year contract with A.J. Johnson, hired as the new Superintendent of Schools two weeks ago to replace Randy Anderson.

Anderson first became superintendent here six years ago as part of an inter-local agreement between Crofton Community Schools and Hartington Public School to share the administrative duties. Anderson gave his notice of resignation to both schools last summer to give ample time to find a replacement before his contract ended June 30, 2015.

The schools have since both agreed to hire separate superintendents.

Each school paid Anderson $107,898 for his salary. Crofton was responsible for all benefits.

Work started three weeks ago in the search to find Johnson’s replacement as High School Principal for the district.
