WAUSA — The Hartington-Newcastle Speech team took home the varsity team championship at Saturday’s Wausa Invite.
The Wildcats scored 57 points to claim the title, while Wausa and Crofton tied for team runners-up with 40 points each.
The HNS JV and varsity teams took home 17 medals on the day. Coach Kyle Stevens said the team has been working hard to improve each and every day.
“This week was a positive step forward for the team, “ he said. “We competed well on Saturday and have been working hard in practice. There is still work to do, but every time we go out to compete, we are getting closer to maximizing our potential. It will be exciting to see what these talented students can accomplish as the season progresses.”
