HARTINGTON-Passengers in the George Reifenrath car escaped injury when the car hit a horse which darted across the road while the people were en route to Hartington to attend the President’s Birthday ball.

BOW VALLEY — Joseph L. Uhing, prominent Bow Valley farmer, was elected president of the Bow Valley Park Association.

COLERIDGE — Dr. F.G. Dewey of Coleridge, was elected president of the Sioux Valley Medical Association. Feb. 15, 1945

LAUREL - Seaman 1/C William Hansen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Magnus Hansen, arrived this week from Attu, Aleutian Islands, on furlough. He spent two years in the northwest. He has been transferred to an aircraft carrier.

HARTINGTON - Lt. Leona J. Pick, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Pick, Sr., of Hartington, is taking training at the nurses training center at Camp Carson, Colo. Upon completion of the course she will be assigned for duty with the army nurse corps.

HARTINGTON - Second Lt. Robert L. Martinson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Martinson of Hartington, has been awarded the Oak Leaf Cluster to the Bronze Medal for meritorious action in France. He is a member of the 134th Infantry.

WYNOT - Sgt. Lawrence Apking, son of Henry Apking of Wynot, has returned to duty at Salt Lake City, Utah, after a 22-day furlough at home. En route to his camp he visited relatives at Ord.

HARTINGTON — Cedar County men who recently passed their preinduction examinations for the armed services have been ordered to report next week for military duty, Ludvig Nedergaard, secretary of the county selective service board, has anounced.

One group of 22 men will leave Hartington for the induction cen ter at Ft. Leavenworth, Kans., next Tuesday, Feb. 20, and the remaining 21 men have been ordered to report the following day, Feb. 21.

The men who have been ordered to report next Tuesday are: HARTINGTON - Matthew O. Nielsen, Ivo L. Kathol, Robert W.

Goeden, Hugo H. Promes, Charles W. Keiter.

RANDOLPH - Buford R. McMillan, Ervin C. Haselhorst, Dick H. Van Slyke, Lyle F. Cunningham, Kenneth A. Dowling.

ST. HELENA - Clarence H. Wuebben, Milton V. Schmidt, Raynold A. Hoebelheinrich, Victor M. Schmidt.

CROFTON - Dallas H. Leader. COLERIDGE - Jerome J. Lammers, Gerald F. Lange.

FORDYCE - Alfred J. Borgeheiinck, Roman H. Bockholt, Cletus L. Koeh.

WYNOT - Lawrence A. Wuebben. BELDEN - Delbert F. Krueger. Those ordered to report next Wednesday are: HARTINGTON - James V. Stappert, Norbert F. Litz, Clarence L. Heger, Reinhold H. Burbach, Darrell D. Waggoner, Elno H. Kinkaid.

FORDYCE - Robert H. Steffen, Harold J. Pinkelman, Leon H. Vornhagen.
