PLAINVIEW - The Randolph Cardinals wrestled to a third-place showing here Feb. 1 at the Plainview Invitational.
The host Pirates won the team championship with 210 points, just 1.5 points in front of Cedar Catholic, the Cards third with 141.5.
Creighton was fourth with 117 and Osmond/Wausa was fifth with 104 to round out the top five.
The Redbirds managed one champion in the tournament and three runners-up. In fact, Randolph had the champion and runner-up at 175 pounds where Gavin Wortman took the title and teammate, Justin Backer, was second.
Wortman pinned his way to the championship with five falls in the round-robin weight class. Backer was one of Wortman's victims but pinned everyone else at 175 to bring home a silver medal.
Bentley Reimers was second at 106 and Gage Jensen was second at 165.
Talyn Meyer was third at 113 and Owen Junck took third at 157. Cole Jensen was fourth at 132; John Leija was fifth at 150; and Tate Brodersen was fifth at 126.
Randolph improved to 14-5 in dual meets on Jan. 30 when the Cardinals split a triangular at Creighton.
The Cards out-wrestled Osmond/ Wausa 48-21 before falling to to the unbeaten Bulldogs by a single point, 34-33.
Randolph will end its regular season slate at the Wakefield Invitational on Feb. 8 before heading into districts Feb. 14 and 15.
The Randolph Lady Cardinal wrestlers competed in the Norfolk Catholic Invitational on Feb. 1 with three wrestlers competing.
The Lady Cards wound up fourth in the team standings with 33 points. Battle Creek won the team title with 153 points, Summerland was second with 88.5 and Norfolk Catholic was third with 65.
All three Lady Cardinals placed individually led by Gracie Wortman who finished at the top of the podium at 125 pounds and scored 20 points.
Mabel Ngebeh was third at 135 and scored seven team points while Peyton Thelen was fourth at 130 and scored six points for Randolph.
The Lady Cardinal will wrestle in the B-3 District Feb. 7 and 8 in Pierce.
