Lady Cardinals drop L&C conference opener
WINSIDE - The Randolph Lady Cardinals dropped the opening game of the Lewis & Clark Conference Tournament here Feb. 1 with a 52-16 loss to the Lady Wildcats. Earlier in the week, the Lady Cards dropped a 54-11 contest to Winnebago in L&C regular season action played in Winnebago.
Lilly Kuchta hit double digits for Randolph in the game with Winside, pouring in 10 points in the contest. Abbey Backer tossed in five and Braylee Kelly canned a free throw.
Kuchta completed the first Randolph doubledouble for the season by grabbing 11 rebounds, Kynlee Winkelbauer pulled down eight and Brooke Meier hauled in three missed shots.
Backer, Kuchta and Sydney Robinson each had a couple of steals in the game.
In the game with the Lady Indians, Backer led the way with five points on the evening. Kuchta added three, Meier two and Winkelbauer canned a free throw.
Kuchta pulled down seven boards. Meier had six; Winkelbauer, five; and Delayne Thelen and Kelly each had three rebounds.
Kuchta added three steals to her stat line. The Lady Cards were set to play a consolation game in the tournament on Feb. 3 against Walthill before winding down the regular season with action at home against Elgin Public/Pope John on Feb. 13 and a trip to Stuart on Feb. 14 before heading into Sub-District action.
