LAUREL — Laurel-Concord-Coleridge FCCLA students Emma Sohler and Madyson Campbell competed at the District 7 STAR Event held Jan. 29 at Wayne State College.
Emma received a silver in Fashion Design. She designed and constructed a prom dress made from recycled denim and lace. Madyson received gold for her project for Focus on Children. She worked with the second grade students on a project designed to help stop bullying. Both girls will be competing at the FCCLA State Convention in Lincoln, Nebraska April 6-8.
FCCLA stands for Family Career and Community Leaders of America, a national organization that aims to promote personal growth and leadership development through family and consumer sciences education. This organization focuses on empowering youth to develop skills for life and community involvement.
