PONCA — The Wynot Lady Blue Devils and Ponca Lady Indians would battle closely in the first half of their game at Ponca on Thursday night. The second half was a different story as the Lady Indians would outscore the Lady Blue Devils 28-15 after intermission as they pulled away for the 45-30 win.
Ponca was led by Elsie Keller who hit a trio of threes on her way to take scoring honors for the game with 23 points. Wynot got 16 points from Addison Sharpe all from three point range and 13 points from Kenna Oligmueller.
Both teams started out slowly in the first quarter. Ponca got a trey from Elsie Keller and some free throws. Wynot could only manage to get a pair of three pointers from Addison Sharpe as they trailed 7-6 after one period.
It got a little better in the second period. Wynot got five points from Kenna Oligmueller and a third three pointer for the game from Addison Sharpe. Ponca countered with five points from Lahen Pfister and four more points from Keller to hold a slim 17-15 lead at halftime.
In the third quarter Ponca heated up on the offense end and Wynot did not. The Blue Devils got five more points from Kenna Oligmueller and a put back basket from Eliza Lange. Ponca opened a 14-7 run thanks to four points each from Elsie Keller Ava Brown and Emerson Ehlers to earn a 31-22 lead going into the final quarter.
Ponca would finish on a 14-8 fourth quarter run powered by a 12-point outburst by Elsie Keller. Wynot got a three pointer each from Addison Sharpe and Kenna Oligmueller but lost ground and the Lady Indians took the win by a margin of 45-30.
