Area residents hit milestones during January blood drive

LAUREL — Three area residents hit milestones during the recent Laurel community blood drive.

Amy Gould, and Dale White each hit the one-gallon mark, while Samuel Perry reached the two-gallon mark during the January blood drive here.

Organizers said the blood drive was a great success as 19 donors were registered and 20 units of blood were collected, which will directly benefit up to 60 patients.

“This success highlights the power of communities coming together to make a difference,” organizers said.

Winter poses unique challenges for blood donation. Seasonal illnesses, inclement weather, and post-holiday busy schedules often lead to a decline in donor turnout. Despite this, the need for blood remains constant.

Hospitals rely on a steady supply of blood for trauma cases, surgeries, and ongoing treatments for patients battling life-threatening conditions.

By donating blood this January, you’re giving the gift of life to patients who depend on it. Your donation can make an immediate and profound difference when it’s needed most.

Organizers thanked Lisa Karnes from United Lutheran Church for coordinating the event and the Laurel Fire & Rescue Team for hosting it at their facility.

The next Laurel community blood drive will be Tuesday, March 4 from 2-6 p.m. at the Laurel Fire Hall.
