Cedar Catholic starts speech season at Pierce

HARTNGTON — The Cedar Catholic Speech Team opened the 2025 season with two meets.

The team started the year Jan. 18 at the Pierce meet.

At the Pierce Invite Jan. 18, Ava Stewart earned first-place honors in Varsity Informative Speaking.

Landon Rutar earned first-place honors in JV Humorous Prose, while Donnie Schulte was third in JV Extemporaneous, Danielle Eickhoff and Adelyn Reifenrath were third in JV Duet Acting.

On Jan. 25, the Cedar team competed at the Boone Central Invitational.

Ava Stewart earned sixth-place honors in the Varsity Informative Speaking category. Ben Kleinschmit also earned sixth place for his Varsity Extemporaneous speech.

Daniella Eickhoff and Adelyn Reifenrath earned first-place honors in their JV Duet Acting piece.

Cedar and Hartington-Newcastle will host their annual speech meet here next Saturday.

On Feb. 8, the Cedar team will compete at the Wayne High WSC meet and on Feb. 15 the team will be in Wausa. There is a meet in Crofton on Feb. 22 and the Mid States Conference will be at Battle Creek on March. 1.

On March 20, the District meet will be held at HNS.
