HARTINGTON - Pupils of St. John’s school, Fordyce, have voted to use the money received as prizes on several contests at the Cedar County Fair to the purchase of a handsome new bookcase which has been bought for the school.
By combining the prizes, a really worthwhile addition was made to the school equipment and now the pupils are preparing to win a number of additional prizes so as to secure other articles for the school.

HARTINGTON - Although she is in the eighth grade at Hartington Public Schools at the present time, Edith Gustafson has never missed a day of school and has never been tardy for class during her eight-year school career.
Edith started to school in 1917, and is now 14 years old.
Proof of her excellent attendance record is furnished on the form of diplomas from the various teachers she has had, her diplomas being signed by the Misses Minnie Bayer, Grace Curry, Vena Warner, Mary Tyler, Nena Scott, Harriett Nordgaatc, Camilla Jorgensen, and Iilene Carlton.
It comes rather natural for Edith to make such a good record.
Her sister, Miss Rosa Gustafson, now teaching in the Rose Hill School, missed but three days out of the 12 years she attended Hartington Public Schools.
Others have shown that same stick-to-itiveness Harold Fuelberth, a former pupil at District 77, has a record of not being absent for four years from 1916 to 1919.
John Thoene Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. John A. Thoene, hasn’t had as much time as other folks to make records for perfect attendance, but he is on his way to a real one.
He is now in his third year at District 108 school and has never been absent nor tardy on all that time.
