1995: Sister Deb Kolecka joins Family Medicine Clinic

HARTINGTON — Stop-n-Go convenience store located on North Hwy 15 in the old Tooties building, recently opened for business. Besides offering grocery items, packaged beer, pop, ice, health and beauty aid items, it carries sandwiches, donuts and coffee. Self service gas also is available.

The business is co-owned by Keith and Deb Eickhoff and Dale and Janel Sudbeck.and is being managed by Steven Bentson.

HARTINGTON–Sheriff Elliot Arens told Cedar County Commissioners here Tuesday, that the Boys and Girls Home of Nebraska was the most likely candidate to house the juvenile delinquents from Cedar County. “The cost of the juvenile corrections facility in Wayne has become prohibitive and the contract calls for money up front whether we need to use it or not,” said Cedar County Commission Chairman Marlen Kraemer. The board signed an agreement with the South Sioux City facility Tuesday. The cost of the Boys and Girls Home is $90 per day per individual.

HARTINGTON–Fair board members are planning some major renovations at the Cedar County Fairgrounds this year. Fair Board members discussed their plans with Cedar County Commissioners Tuesday. Fair board president, Bob Steffen said the proposed improvements would be in two separate buildings, both separate buildings, both compyling to the American Disabilities Act standards. The first project involves the current restroom facility and office building. The renovation project for this building would be completed by May 15, so the fair grounds could be ready to open for the Cedar County Raceway season. The second renovation project will include a new exhibit hall and restroom facility.

HARTINGTON–A rare moment in sports history will be honored here Saturday night. Cedar Catholic High School will celebrate the 20th anniversary of the night that five brothers of the Gene and Jeannette Wieseler family of St. Helena started a varsity basketball game for Cedar Catholic.

The event took place in a contest against Plainview. All five boys and other members of their family will be present for the program, which will be held at halftime of Saturday’s boys’ varsity game against Atkinson West Holt. On Feb. 11, 1975, Coach Gary Dunn put Gary Wieseler, senior; Larry Wieseler, junior; Rick Wieseler, sophomore; Roger Wieseler, Sophomore; and Danny Wieseler, Freshmen; in the starting lineup for Cedar Catholic High School against Plainview High School. Cedar went on to claim a big 71-51 win.

HARTINGTON–The desire to derive new challenges for her health career has brought sister Debra Kolecka to Hartington and the Family Medicine Center. Sr. Debra began her duties last week as a certified nurse practitioner in the Hartington clinic. She will be in the clinic fulltime, Mondays through Fridays.
