WYNOT — The Wynot Lady Blue Devils jumped out to an early lead and never looked back as they cruised to a 53-33 win over the Creighton Lady Bulldogs on Tuesday night. Wynot’s defense was stout in this game, holding Creighton to single digit scoring in three out of four quarters.
Wynot would put two players in double figures in this one lead by the long range shooting of Addison Sharpe. Sharpe would hit seven threes on her way to a game high 21 points. Kenna Oligmueller was the other player with 13 points, and Haley Wieseler and Jordan Foxhoven missed with nine points each in a balanced attack.
Alayna Jueden led the Lady Bulldogs on offense with her 13 points for Creighton. Claire Meyer and Jordan Ebel each hit for six points for the home team.
In the opening quarter, Alayna Jueden, Claire Meyer and Jordan Ebel all hit a basket for Creighton. Wynot countered with five points from Jordan Foxhoven and three points each by Kenna Oligmueller and Addison Sharpe, as the Lady Blue Devils raced to a 17-6 early lead.
The Lady Bulldogs got a pair of conventional baskets from Alayna Jueden and a 3-pointer from Tatym Tauber in the second quarter. Wynot would counter with four more points by Kenna Oligmueller and a Jordan Foxhoven trey to increase their lead to 27-13 at halftime.
In the third quarter, Wynot went on a 19-8 run lead by four threes from Addison Sharpe and one by Haley Wieseler, as the Lady Blue Devils pulled away to the 46-21 advantage. Creighton got four more points by Alayna and a basket by Caire Meyer, but fell further behind.
The final quarter had the Blue Devils keeping the offensive pressure on. Addison Sharpe hit her sixth and seventh three of the game and Taylor Pinkelman came off the bench to score three points, while four other players hit a basket each for the visitors. Creighton got a 3-pointer by Brooke Fanta and a basket each from Claire Meyer, Ashton Fulton and Alayna Jueden, but Wynot finished the game on a 17-12 run to make the final tally 53-33.
