Schutte is on awards watch list

SEWARD — Laurel native Noah Schutte’s senior season on the Concordia University, men’s basketball team has been one for the books.

On Jan. 8, Schutte hit his 2,100th career point to pass Jon Ziegler as the school’s alltime leading scorer.

Now Schutte, and teammate Tristan Smith, have been named to the 2025 Bevo Francis Award Watch list of 100 players within Small College Basketball.

Schutte is averaging 16.8 points per game this season. He also averages 7.8 rebounds per contest for the Bulldogs.

The Bevo Francis Award is presented annually to the player who has had the finest overall season at the small college levels, this includes the NAIA, NCAA DII and NCAA DIII.

The 15-4 Bulldogs are next in action Friday night at the Concordia University Invitational Tournament in Ann Arbor, Mich. They will take on Concordia University of Chicago in the first game with the winner advancing to Saturday’s championship game.

The Bulldogs then return to conference action Jan. 29 when they travel to Fremont to take on Midland.
